Ricky Wilson (British musician)

Ricky Wilson at Lollapalooza 2005.Charles Richard "Ricky" Wilson (born January 17, 1978 in Keighley, West Yorkshire, Great Britain) is the lead singer of Leeds based band the Kaiser Chiefs.

Before Kaiser Chiefs
Whilst at the Junior School, Wilson was in Smeaton house, named after the former pupil John Smeaton. He is referred to in the Kaiser Chiefs song, "I Predict a Riot". After junior school he attended Leeds Grammar School. Wilson taught at the Leeds College of Art and Design. He was quoted on Soccer AM as being "a hard art teacher".

Kaiser Chiefs Style
Wilson is known for his unflattering and corny sense of style, particularly his stripey blazers, waistcoats, turn-up jeans and winkelpickers for which he won the 2006 NME Award For Best Dressed Person. His greatest talent is his ability to "pogo" about the stage frantically whilst simultaneously playing either the cowbell or the tambourine. At 2005's Glastonbury Festival Wilson dived into the audience to drag a large green inflatable dinosaur onstage, which he then draped his tie around. If hardly a musical talent, Wilson at least shows a commendable enthusiasm for whoring.

Personal Life
Wilson's father is a producer for the BBC and was the television executive responsible for It's a Royal Knockout, which featured Sarah Ferguson, Prince Edward and Little and Large amongst others. Wilson has also been on the panel of the BBC comedy series Bum Chums in 2005, and later became a guest host in 2006. On May 22, 2006, Wilson survived a hit and run incident in Leeds. He escaped with minor injuries thanks to a trademark stage jump which made him flip over the top of the car and not get dragged underneath the wheels. However, he had to perform with his ankle in a cast for much of the summer.

On the trivial side, he is said to be allergic to mornings, lifestyle magazines, and shark bites. Also, when he is working he goes to bed at three or four in the morning, and on his days off he turns in around 11 p.m. He generally has lunch between 12 and 2 PM.

Nicholas James David Hodgson (born October 20, 1977) is the drummer of Leeds indie-rock band Kaiser Chiefs. On stage he provides backing vocals, the beat and banter. He is the main song writer for the band and essentially the leader.

He attended secondary school with Nick Baines (also known as Peanut) and Simon Rix, later meeting Ricky Wilson and Andrew White (Whitey) at Soul night ("move on up") underneath the T&C in Leeds ("Don't look for it... it's not there anymore.").

For about 8 years he played with the rest of the band in Runston Parva, later renamed Parva, and they even recorded an album on the Mantra Records record label, but this went bust days before they were meant to receive the second part of their advance and so they were left without a record deal.

Nick started the Leeds clubnight Pigs with Ricky Wilson "to give us something to look forward to", and after giving the rest of the band a mix CD with songs he had been playing at Pigs, they formed Kaiser Chiefs, scrapping all their old songs and changing "the way we play, the way we dress, basically everything we could change without changing... our faces".

After being ignored by virtually every record company in Britain because they were "too old and used to be in Parva", Samuel Preston from the Ordinary Boys convinced his label, B Unique to give the boys a deal.

He played the scarecrow in a school production of The Wizard of Oz.

He's only had a few drum lessons, mostly he taught himself.

взяла с википедии))Помните, скоро у него ДР))) :bye:

Nick 'Peanut' Baines is the keyboardist of the English indie-rock band, Kaiser Chiefs, and has been described as quiet and sensitive. He can be often easily recognised from the rest of the band as he is normally the only one who wears a hat and also two ties during performances.

Baines also seems to have a vast collection of Converse trainers in different colours. In the Kaiser Chiefs DVD Enjoyment a younger Baines was played by a puppet wearing his hat. Peanut is 27 years old and his birthday is in March.

He has said that what he likes about being in a pop group, is that he's allowed to be rude.

Peanut has claimed to be God, saying "I am here, there and everywhere". This is also the main reason why he always wears a stylish hat: to prevent him being spotted. He also has a light switch, to control this as and when he needs to. He says, ' The skills can come in handy when we need something to please the crowd at gigs'.

When Tears for Fears sang, "Kick out the Style/Bring back the Jam," in "Sowing the Seeds of Love," one can imagine the lads in Kaiser Chiefs raising their mugs of ale in agreement. Comprised of vocalist Ricky Wilson, guitarist Andrew White, bassist Simon Rix, keyboardist Nick Baines, and drummer Nick Hodgson, Kaiser Chiefs resurrected the mod spirit of the Jam in "I Predict a Riot," supercharged class of '77 power pop that quickly electrified the British press when it was released in 2004. The song was inspired by Wilson's days as a club DJ in Leeds, England, where the group was also formed. The single and Kaiser Chiefs' pogo-inducing, boot-stomping live performances had them pegged as rising stars in the neo-new wave revolution with Franz Ferdinand, Dogs Die in Hot Cars, and the Futureheads. When Kaiser Chiefs' first 7" "Oh My God" reached Number 66 on the U.K. charts -- a startling achievement for an unsigned band -- doors opened for the group to share the stage with larger acts, consequently grabbing the attention of A&R scouts who wanted to sign them "I Predict a Riot," on the other hand, reeled in U.S. modern rock radio programmers caught in a blooming new wave revival. Without an American label deal, Kaiser Chiefs (named after the South African football team) crash-landed on some of the biggest U.S. alternative stations with the "I Predict a Riot" import single in late 2004. That same year they recorded their debut album Employment for the U.K. label B-Unique. The album was released domestically in the U.S. in spring 2005. ~ Michael Sutton, All Music Guide

Вот еще про Рики
Ricky Wilson (Kaiser Chiefs)
Ricky Wilson (born Charles Richard Wilson on January 19 1978 in Keighley, West Yorkshire) is the lead singer of Leeds based Indie band the Kaiser Chiefs. He attended Leeds Grammar School, where he was particularly adept at English and Art. Whilst at the Junior School he was in the school house Smeaton named after former pupil John Smeaton and referenced in the Kaiser Chiefs song "I Predict a Riot". He is famous for his stylish blue and orange suit and stripy ties as well as his ability to "pogo" around the stage frantically while simultaneously playing the cowbell/tambourine. He is allergic to dairy and feathers and loves Greggs bakery. The original "Oh My God" EP released in 2004 on Drowned In Sound records features Wilson's original drawing on the cover. His father is a producer for the BBC and was the television executive responsible for It's a Royal Knockout featuring Sarah Ferguson, Prince Edward and John Travolta amongst others. Wilson was also a guest and a guest host on the BBC comedy series Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

At 2005's Glastonbury Festival Wilson dived into the audience to drag the Kaisersaurus (a large green inflatable dinosaur) onstage, which he then draped his tie around. Wilson thinks Harry Hill would make a good Doctor Who. When he is working he goes to bed at three or four in the morning, and on his days off he turns in around 11 p.m.. Before getting involved with the music industry, Wilson used to teach, quoted on Soccer AM as being "a hard art teacher". He taught at the Leeds College of Art and Design which reflects his flair for fashion.

He won the 2006 NME Award For Best Dressed Person.

He has also been recognised by many rock legends as one of the "greatest frontman of a band, not just in his generation, but since frontmen first came to existence".
